Based Milpark, Johannesburg (Gauteng)
My career began at Port Shepstone Hospital, where I completed my community service year. On my return to Johannesburg, I worked at Bellavista School for two years, where I gained tremendous experience in school-age language with special needs, including a post-grad qualification in dyslexia and learning disabilities. It was during this time that I opened a private practice catering to a school-age language.
Between 2014-2016, I gained clinical experience in the locum field, working in private healthcare- at Netcare Milpark Hospital, and in the NGO sector at Headway Gauteng (The Brain Injury Association).
In 2016, I moved to London, and worked in various NHS Trusts and in private hospitals and rehabilitation units, working my way up to become the (locum) clinical lead for adult Speech Therapy at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital.
During the COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, I was invited back to Kingston Hospital (where I had previously worked) to take on the lead critical care Speech Therapy role. I successfully ran a project to secure funding for a full-time Speech Therapy post in critical care. I have attended and provided specialist training within acute care, with particular interest in the Speech Therapist role in critical care, including tracheostomy care.
I am a member of the South African Speech Language and Hearing Association as well as the Royal College of Speech Language Therapists (UK).
I returned to South Africa at the end of 2020, and am currently working at Milpark Hospital in acute and critical care.
