Shelley Hall Clinical Psychologist :: Based in Empangeni, (KwaZulu Natal)
Shelley is a Zululand woman through and through. She was raised in Eshowe, Mtubatuba and Empangeni. Shelley completed her undergraduate degree at the University of KwaZulu-Natal, Pietermaritzburg. She was proudly selected as one of the 6 students into the Clinical Psychology, master’s program at the University of Zululand. Her clinical internship was undertaken at Fort Napier and Town Hill hospitals in Pietermaritzburg and community service at Ngwelezane Hospital.
Shelley is an experienced Clinical Psychologist with an enduring interest in neuroscience. She helps adults and children cope with trauma, grief, self-harm and emotional regulation issues, including anger and depression. Shelley loves learning and is constantly updating her skills.
Shelley is an extensively qualified, nationally and internationally, Brain Working Recursive Therapy(BWRT ) practitioner. This year she trained other psychologists in the use of BWRT with children and has assisted as a supervisor for other BWRT training courses and supervising colleagues. Shelley believes in BWRT’s ability to provide, fast, efficient, client-centred solutions to multiple – and often long-standing – psychological issues.
Her private practice holds office space in Empangeni, Eshowe and Meerensee. Shelley and her receptionist, Chantè, work hard to provide professional psychology services. At times there may be a wait for an appointment. Shelley is extremely passionate about what she does and puts a lot of effort and energy into each client. She is therefore careful not to overbook and rather seeks to ensure availability to each client until they are in a safe space to terminate therapy. Shelley aims to work with her client to focus on strengths and help build personal resilience.
Her practice also includes assessment and therapy for childhood disorders. She enjoys working with pre-school-age children and their parents, particularly in the fields of play therapy and separation anxiety.
